[토론토] UMC 어학원 - 토론토대학교 방문, 강의듣기

토론토대학 유명하죠~ 언제가게 되면 가야지..하는 생각을 하고있었는데, 마침 통번역 수업에서 선생님, 친구들과 토론토대학을 방문해보자는 이야기가 나와서 가게되었어요. 일단 토론토 대학 건물 자체가 방대하고 커서 어디가 어딘지 모를 정도로 컸어요. 그 중에서 강연장이 큰 곳에 들어가보기로 했어요.

20분 정도 듣고나오는 걸로. 사실 이건 합법적(?)으로 되진 않는건데..강의실이 워낙 대공연장이고, 저희는 소수 5명 이다보니 잠깐 보고 나오는 건 크게 문제가 되지 않았어요. 안타깝게도 들어간 과목이 화학이었는데, 산을 분해하는 방법에 대해 나오더라고요. log어쩌고.. 사회학이었으면 더 좋았을텐데 아쉬움이 있었지만, 강의를 들으면서 참 많은 걸 느꼈어요. 단순히 통번역, 영어듣기가 아니라..

전 세계에서 온 학생들이 한 자리에 모여 토론하고, 논의하고 하는 걸 보면서 제 세상이 조금 넓혀진 느낌이 들었어요.

강의실은 무지하게 컸지만, 강사는 각각 문제에 대해 학생들에게 물어보고, 학생들은 그 것을 대답하고 질문하기도 했어요. 우리나라와 참 많이 다르죠?

학교밖에서는 교내 문제에 대한 작은 Protest도 열리고 있었고, 한 쪽에서는 토론을 하기도 하고..

뭔가 지성의 장에 온 느낌? ㅎㅎㅎ

참..토론토대학에서는 매주 한국어-영어 익스체인지 스쿨이 열린다고 합니다.

저는 아직 못갔지만, 가고 싶으면 경험해보시는게 좋을 것 같아요. 네이티브 친구들을 만나기에 최적합인 것 같아요.
