Located in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. Officially referred to as the NorthWind Bangui Bay Project,

by the NorthWind Development Corporation for renewable energy sources to reduce the greenhouse

gases that cause global warming. First Wind Farm consisting of wind turbines on-shore facing the

South China Sea and to be the biggest in Southeast Asia. The project sells electricity to the Ilocos Norte

Electric Cooperative (INEC) provides 40% of the power of Ilocos Norte via Transco Laoag.

 

 

 

Bangui Windmills is one of the favorite destinations in Ilocos Norte. Looking at these windmills at

far made us say WOW. They are huge, powerful, and modern-looking. Bangui Windmills are

considered to be the biggest in Southeast Asia.

 

 

These 20 windmills, neatly arranged in an arc across nine barangays, have been a source of pride

among the rural folk of the coastal town of Bangui since the tri-blades of the windmills were set in motion

in 2005 to generate renewable energy for the province.

 

 

 

Each windmill has 236 meters apart on shore. These beautiful structures has 41 meters blade

and the its height is roughly equivalent to a 23-storey building.

 

 

 

 

 

These 20 windmills, neatly arranged in an arc across nine barangays, have been a source of pride

among the rural folk of the coastal town of Bangui since the tri-blades of the windmills were set in

motion in 2005 to generate renewable energy for the province.

 

Officially known as the NorthWind Bangui Bay Project, these windmills are also a major tourist

attraction among visitors who stop by for tequila sunrise or sunset photos. Enterprising locals

sell T-shirts, drinks and snacks to capitalise on the growing popularity of the windmills.

 

 

 

The Bangui coast has a fishing community and it was nice to see all their colorful banca's parked along the shore.
