SINADYA SA HALARAN (Major Activities)

PASUNDAYAG CAPIZNON. Otherwise known as the Parade of Festivals, this particular activity showcases the major festivals of the city and all 16 municipalities of Capiz. For this years celebration, Pasundayag Capiznon reels off on Dec. 4 from Villareal Stadium and culminates at the Roxas City plaza. Authentic Capiznon music, beats, musical instruments, props and choreography depicting the ways of life of the natives take center stage in the citys major streets.

PROSESYON SA SUBA. Also known as Fluvial Procession. In this particular activity, Panay River –a river within a city – is highlighted in terms of its significance to the social, economic and religious life of Capiceños. Several rafts of the Basic Ecclesiastical Community zones of the Immaculate Conception will participate in the fluvial procession carrying their respective patrons/patronesses.  The major raft carries the image of the Immaculate Conception, the Patroness of the Archdiocese of Capiz.  All rafts are heavily lighted with different colors and candles and adorned with flowers.  This one is a sight to behold, what with those hundreds of floating candles crowding the river.
In this years version, devotees or the spectators are expected to actively participate from the time the fluvial processions started until it culminated at the Immaculte Conception Cathedal.  They are expected to stump their feet and shout in jubilations as they pay homage to the Blessed Mother.

SINADYA SA KALYE. In this spontaneous and informal form of street-dancing, everything goes.  The participants enjoy more freedom –whether they are jumping, dancing, singing or gyrating in the streets. The activity brings to the streets the different faces of Capiceños– their culture, their way of life, whether in the farm, sea, offices or in homes.  They dance to the beat of original Capiznon music.

SEARCH FOR MUTYA SANG SINADYA SA HALARAN .  This is a beauty contest for the most beautiful Capiceña who would act as the provinces ambassadress of goodwill.  The pageant, originally known as  Search for Mutya sang Halaran, has been runing for more than 30 years through the auspices of the Capiz Lions Club, Inc.  This year, the pageant will be held at the spacious and fully airconditioned Capiz Gynasium.

HUGOD CAPIZNON.  This is an agricultural and horticulture fair showcasing the various land bounties of the city and the provinces 16 municipalities. Through the Fair, the best products of Capiz are displayed for the spectators to see and appreciate.  Venue of this particular activity is the Presidential Park beside the monument of President Manuel Roxas and the Capiz Museum.

GAB-I SANG PASASALAMAT. Or LGU Fellowship Night.  In the spirit of joyful thanksgiving, provincial, city and municipal officials –along with other development –oriented individuals, gather together under one roof to give recognition to the best practices and to those who have given the province honors and pride through their good deeds and exceptional achievements.  In the Sinadya sa Halran 2010 celebration, however, this format has been totally scrapped to give to the all-night fellowship and joyful celebration.

THANKSGIVING MASS.  It has been the tradition of the religious community in Capiz Province and Roxas City to offer  Mass before any event starts as a gratitude to the Almighty Father for the bountiful harvest and other blessings received.  Sinadya, after all, sprang from the Roxas City fiesta, a religious activity that pays homage to the Our Lady Immaculate Conception as the Patroness of Roxas City.

ARTISTA SA SINADYA.  This city-sponsored affair features popular movie stars, especially the flavor of the hour, so to speak, and  is held yearly to afford city folks and spectators alike a free form of entertainment. This year, the Artista sa Sinadya will be held at the Roxas City plaza starting at 4 p.m.  Dec. 3. Mrs. Judy Araneta-Roxas, mother of former Sen. Mar Roxas, helps facilitate the coming over of the celebrities.

LUTONG CAPIZNON. Different dishes unique to Capiz, particularly seafood, are showcased not only for the eyes but also for the stomachs. Both residents and their guests will have the opportunity to savor the Provinces best delicacies and share these with each other in the spirit of sharing and thanksgiving.

HINAMPANG SA PLAZA. This particular activity features the native games of Capiz like Palo Sebo, Dakpanay sang Bebe sa Suba, Sack Race, among others. This is done in the spirit of fun, camaraderie and sportsmanship with both the participants and the spectators expected to enjoy to the max.

COSPLAY.  This is an innovation in this years Sinadya sa Halaran which would  be held under the auspices of the Capiz Visitors and Convention Bureau (CVCB).   Dubbed the Ist Capiz Invitational Cosplay, it is an act of dressing up to look like an anime, mangga, video game, Japanese rock, or Jpop chracter. Cosplay, according to Wikipedia, is a short way of saying Costume Play.  Cosplay can be divided into two parts, basic cosplay and masquerade costplay cosplay.   Both types of cosplay involve trying to physically look like the character, including speaking like the character, memorizing quotes and so on.  Masquerading, or The Masquerade, usually refers to a cosplay competititon where cosplayers demonstrate their skills in creating costumes, putting on skits, and in technical skills.
