Biography

Overview

Mini Bio

Toni was born on January 20, 1984, to Methodist parents Carlito and

Crisanta Gonzaga. Her birth name, Celestine, was given to her father by a boxer.

She has a younger sister named Catherine.

She began to sing at the age of four participating in various singing competitions.

She took up mass communications at the Dominican College, where she

studied for two years. Later, she transferred to the AB English program

of the Asian Institute for Distance Education (AIDE).

Aside from her career in show business and the music scene,

Gonzaga was once a Sunday school teacher and a Barangay Kagawad in Taytay.

At 17, she struggled as a lounge singer in several Philippine hotels and bars

 at night while attending school during the day. Her agent later informed her of an audition for a local TV commercial for Sprite.

Trivia

She got her first big break in a soft-drink commercial as a fan of Piolo Pascual.

Endorser of Bluewater Day Spa which pioneered the traditional Filipino

healing message, hilot, using an aromatic herbal formula.

The other endorser is Brad Turvey.

 

In 2005, she was one of the busiest actresses in GMA Network having

four regular shows: Eat Bulaga, Lagot Ka, Bitoy's Funniest Videos and Startalk

but she got an offer from ABS-CBN. She accepted the tempting offer as a career move.

 

 

 

 

Career

In March 2012, she starred in the first ever

month-long special of Wansapanataym, which aired four episodes.

 

The 2011 Female Concert Performer award was given

to Gonzaga by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Foundation.

In October 2012, Gonzaga finally launched her comedy film in which she

teamed up with Vice Ganda and Luis Manzano entitled, This Guy's In Love With You,

 Mare!. The movie is one of the highest grossing Filipino films of all time.

 

On January 7, 2013, Gonzaga entered the

Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs contest with the

song entry called "Kahit Na", written by Jumbo ���Bojam��� De Belen.

 The song finished in fifth place as the Best P-pop Love Song, thus rewarding

the writer of Gonzaga's song Php100,000 in cash.

 

In February 2013, Gonzaga confirmed that

she was the main host of the singing reality show

The Voice Philippines. As part of the 20th anniversary celebration

of Star Cinema, Gonzaga together with Bea Alonzo, Shaina Magdayao,

Angel Locsin and Enchong Dee were teamed up in a film entitled

Four Sisters and a Wedding, directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
