The Story and Songs of The Bloomfields

The Bloomfields is a Filipino band of five energetic and young musicians. The band engages in a never-heard before ���Rock ���n Roll���. They also played alternative and punk music. Before their present name, they used other names such as ���The Pencilcases���, ���The Reverbs���, and ���The Paperback Writers���. But none of them satisfy their wanting to become unique. Jay Jay on his vacation in the States happened to pass and read the Bloomfield Avenue. He thought the name was fun and happy. So he proposed it to the group but no one seems interested. Such a great contrast of a Rock ���n Roll band having a flowery band name. But since they have no other ideas, they finally stuck to it. They got their inspiration from other Rock ���n Roll bands such as The Beatles, The Beachboys, The Shadows, The Ventures, Dave Clark 5, Cliff Richard, Chris Montez etc. They seriously take the 60���s Rock ���n Roll ranges from classic rock ���n roll to contemporary British pop-rock acts.

All the way from high school, the band was formed at ���La Salle Green Hills���. Jay Jay Lozano started and automatically became the leader of the band. He is the main songwriter and also the musical arranger. He is known for his charisma and all-around talents. That���s what makes a ���frontman��� real. This Industrial ���Engineering major��� in DLSU is a charmer-slash-serial-lover, though shortest of the group but one who can attract listeners with his high-pitched melodies and funky steps. He deals with different instruments such as guitars, harmonica and synth as well as the vocalist of the group.

Another must-seen musician is Rocky Collado, a Harry-Potter look-alike, an energetic drummer, a spokesperson and also one of the vocalists. He spanks his bass like a trigger-happy soldier and smashes his cymbals with awe on the viewers. The stage personnel sometimes got anxious of his relentless smashing worrying that their drums get crushed. He is an ���Industrial Design major��� in College of St. Benilde.
 

The band would not make sense without Louie Poco���s unstoppable energy. He���s considered and known as the Livewire and takes the stage with his wild moves. He is also an ���Industrial Design major��� but in University of the Philippines- Diliman. He deals with the bass and also his wild vocals make rock ���n roll a rock ���n roll.

Another unbelievable musician is the band���s keyboardist Lakan Hila. He is chubby and his skin is as white as the porcelain. This keyboard wizard can set the crowd ablaze conjuring a sublime spell of staccatos. Of all the performers, Lakan has the least wounds and contented staying in his seat, beating the keyboards with his powerful hands. He prefers to be silent and let the other four talk.

The last but not the least is the brother of Jay Jay, Pepe Lozano. He got his killer smile, killer looks and a real musician and performer. He���s not just a pretty face like any other performer but he can knock off other socks with his powerful voice unlike any performer. He is the guitarist and also the vocalist of the group.
