''Charcoal'' is a black substance that resembles coal and is used as a source of fuel.

It is generally made from wood that has been burnt, or charred,

while being deprived of oxygen so that what's left is an impure carbon residue.

While charcoal is used in the manufacture of various objects from

crayons to filters, its most common use is as fuel.

Charcoal making is one way on how people in  mountainous areas in Philippines survive

 and live with.

These are the people living in poverty striving hard for any kind of works to earn money

to use for their daily needs.

One of the charcoal's most common fuel is for cooking. It produces heat that is hotter

and burns clearer than wood, making it ideal for cooking.

Many people debates the use of gas versus charcoal heat for grilling foods,

 but many people prefer charcoal.

STEPS IN MAKING CHARCOAL

Create a ''wall'' of flattened banana trunk filled with soil in between. . .

Arrange the chopped up pieces inside this enclosure, in a relatively manner. . .

Cover the entire top with soil. . .

Lift a small fire with kindling at one of the vents orholes at the bottom of the charcoal oven

and fanned it until smoke started to billow out of the other ''exits''. . .

The flames died down relatively quickly and the embers provided the heat

or smoke needed to turn the wood into charcoal.

Waiting for a month so that the wood will be fully burn. .

Ready for packing. .

Done. .
