오늘은 either,neither에 대해서 확실히 공부했다.
평소에 상대방의 말에 동의하는 표현으로 'me too','so do I'혹은 'me either/neither'을 경우에 상관없이 썼었다.
하지만 me either의 경우는 쓰는 상황이 따로 정해져 있었다.
긍정이나 부정 모두 사용 가능 한것이아니라, 부정일 때에만 사용이 가능한 표현이 me either이다.
예를 들어서 'I don't like meat and my husband either','I can't swim이라고 상대방에 말했을 때,
'me either'은 나도 수영을 못해 라는 표현으로 쓸 수 있는 것이다.
그외에도 either은 conjunction으로도 사용 가능하다.
I can speak either korean or english/ we got caught in pouring rain without either raincoat or umbrellas.
neither의 경우도 부정문에만 쓰인다.
사전적 정의는 not either of two things or people. 예문을 살펴보면 Neither of my parents likes my boyfriend./ Which one would you choose?
Neither. both're terrible.
either 과 neither은 헷갈리기 쉬운것 같다.either의 부정이 neither이다.
오전 수업시간에 다양한 형용사를 배웠다.
witty는 우리 말로도 위트 넘친다라고 표현하는 것처럼, 재치있는 사람을 가리킬 때 쓴다. she's a quick witted government procecutor.
phobia는 익숙한 표현이다 ~~포비아 단어는 흔히 쓰이지만 말로 하기는 힘들다.
두가지 표현으로 쓸 수 있다.
'I have a phobia of sth/i'm phobic of sth 하지만 전자가 더 일상에서 많이 쓰인다.
포비아는 무엇인가 강하게 싫어할때 쓸 수 있다. 단순히hate만 쓰지말고 다양한 표현을 익혀두어야 겠다.
what are some of hang-ups? it means sth that causes you to feel worried, afraid,embarrassed. hang-ups의 의미이다.
대답할 때는 I'm not able to do it/ i'm not willing to do it
예를 들자면, i'm not able to stay in crowded place or small place. I'm not able to get on the elevator.
혹은 what are some of red-lines? i'm not cool with that.../ I'm not cool with someone who smokes on the street or not fasten the seatbelt.
