오늘 배운 것에 대해 여기서 나누고자 한다.
오늘은 “REPORTEDSPEECH”에 대해 배웠는 처음에는 이해하기도 쉽고 개인적으로 배우는 것도 빨랐다. 하지만 깊게 파고 들어가면쉽지 않다는 것을 느꼈다.
예를 들어 내가 “Iwork hard.”를 말한다. 그러면 이게 “Direct speech”라고 불린다. 그리고 내가 말한 것을 다른 사람이 반복할 때 “He said that he worked hard”는 “Reported speech”가 되는 것이다.


 “Directspeech”에서 “Reported speech”으로 바꾸려면 4가지 룰을 준수해야한다.


The first rule is to choose a reporting verband tense.


The second rule is to change the perspective,or point of view.


Next, choose whether to include "that or"if."


The fourth rule is to "backshift" thetense.


이 중에서 좀 어려운 룰이 첫 번째인 거 같다.


일단 reporting verb중에 “said, told, realized” 같은 단어들은 뒤에 “that”붙이고 +clause이다.“that”를 생략해도 괜찮다.


예: She told them (that) shecouldn’t help.


reporting verb 중에 “ask, tell, remind,invite”같은 단어들은 뒤에 object+(not)to +base form. 이중 “object”은 보통 사람을 얘기한다.


예:She asked me to hold herbag.




reporting verb중에 “promise, offer”은 +to +base form. 여기서 “object”은 붙지 않는다.


예: He promised not to belate again.


 
“promise”은 +(that) + clause해도 된다.


예:He promised that hewouldn’t be late again.
